Error: The daemon is being inhibited

I am trying to re-format an external hard drive for my son's xbox but everytime I try to do anything with it at all..(even safely remove) I get an error that says The daemon is being inhibited. How can I Un-inhibit the daemon?

figured it out...just had to reboot.....duh....
