set password to none and cannot unlock anything now

Asked by Anna Couutsomitelli

I changed my password and decided I needed no password as an administrator and user so I selected the option - none- that is no password. Now I am asked for my password for every change I want to make but the system does not accept neither no password nor the old ones. What should I do?

To change anything you need an account with administrator privileges and a password. Other accounts can have a blank password but I wouldn't recommend it

To set a password there are a few methods (mostly similar) take a look at these

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword

https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-help/user-forgottenpassword.html
