how can I log in as ROOT in UBUNTU 12.04 ?

Asked by Keith Chambers on 2012-10-02

I am told to install the Unified Linux driver I must log in as ROOT. I have only the option to log in as myself or guest although if I try to create a ROOT account, I am told it already exists but I can't log into it. and how would I know what the password is? Thank you

You can't as the account is disabled. If you want a root prompt you can run:

sudo -i

And you will be root with your user's configs. Once you are done, run:

exit

and you will be user again. Logging in as root is not needed, advised or wise.
