how do I set all themes to black appearance Preferences and theme are gone

in 10.04 I could go to appearance Preferences then to Themes and there where some great black themes there but on12.04 it's gone :( how can I get things black again all this white is killing my eyes.
 I've tried to change things with advanced settings but it's all guess work there and now my sofware center is white on white can't see anything.
 I down loading a theme called NASA Night Launch in 10.04 and with the two everything was black. I down loaded NASA Night Launch but what do you use on 12.04 to run it? can anyone help

Hello,

Some months ago I found there is this useful package in the Ubuntu Software Center:
gnome-tweak-tool

Once installed you find an "Advanced Settings" menu somewhere.
Maybe you could have a look to it?
