Is it true that classic desktop will not be in 11.10

Asked by maxmick69

Is it true that unity is to be default from now on and classic desktop will not be in 11.10 i am using 10.10 on my pavillion ze5700 as 11.04 was noticeably more greedy and it would not let me run extra visual effects or unity gui...
I know the specs of my laptop are low but isnt that what linux is designed for to run on lower spec machines..
I am able to run every version of ubuntu from 7.10 all the way to 11.04 but as said had to take a backward step and go with 10.10 as i couldnt run extra visual effects or the unity desktop and for the first time ubuntu ran slow....
What has happend is this the way of things to come is linux going the way of microsoft and getting ultra greedy on hardware...
I have HP pavillion ze5700 , 1gig ram ,40 gig drive the graphics is shared from 4mb to 128mb i tried all settings and couldnt get unity to run and hated the speed reduction please solve the issue ...
heres my pc specs below hope this helps at present I have the 10gig drive and all is superb with 10.10 ...

11.10 will use Unity 2D instead of the tried and tested Gnome desktop. You have a 2.8Ghz CPU and 1Gb RAM. That's far and away more power than I have dude. I believe it has a Mobility Radeon GPU which should be supported by the open driver. I suggest you expand your swap space to 2Gb. You currently don't even have enough to allow hibernation etc.

Can you help with this problem?
