How can I make the mouse cursor larger.

Been trying to make the mouse cursor larger. Xcursor selector makes no difference. Can you help please?

Under the system/preferences/appearance menu, select a theme, then customize, then select the pointer tab. At the bottom of the window is a slider to select the size.
