Keyboard configuration in unity oneiric 11.10

Asked by quantenemitter

Hi there,

I can't figure out how to change my keyboard settings in ubuntu oneiric 11.10 unity (2D).

What I'm trying to accomplish:
* In German layout, change CAPS_LOCK to COMPOSE
* manually swich between German and Greek layout

What I've already tried:
* In "region and language", the languages "English" and "German" are installed. I can't find "Greek"!
* unity panel doesn't show a keyboard layout swicher

My questions are:
1) How can I change the keyboard configuration in the default way?
2) Did I run into a bug / something not implemented yet? (I know what "alpha" means)
3) If there's no gui by now, how to change the configuration in the console? (A good link would be hreally elpful)

Thank you for your help!

To use greek you need to install the packages. Did you try to open the dash and look for language support?

Oh, I have to install the language packs just to get the greek keyboard? I didn't assume that. Futhermore I assumed "region and language" is a gui for installing those packages.

Whatever, thank you very much for the bug # and the link. I'm happy that it's got a "high" importance :)
