Sony VAIO keyboard problem

My laptop keyboard is not working properly. The Ubuntu 11.04 works fine booting from CD, but after install and boot from disk, some keys get remapped, I am using external USB keyboard to type this. I tried adding :

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.reset"

but no change. Help! Want Ubuntu but keyboard layout is broken when after disk boot!

Found problem - numlock was on. Off fixed it.
