gweather excessive memory use

Asked by David Stevenson

Looking at memory use in top gweather-applet is one of the highest users at around 16meg RES or 21meg DATA. This looks odd to me for such a small applet. I have looked around to see if anyone else considers this a problem and can find nothing.
So am I looking at the wrong numbers or does no one else care about memory use?
Also I can not find a home page for the applet, where is it supported?

Thanks

The development is probably in Gnome itself. A weather application will need to continually reach out to the internet for more information. This requires memory to keep track of what is being pulled and when it was pulled. 16MB probably isn't very high for this sort of application. Memory usage is one of the reasons I don't use this sort of addon anywhere.

Can you help with this problem?
