gnome-app-install Xubuntu 9.10. how to set Google Chrome as default browser in Xfce

Asked by icobra

Hi.

I use Xubuntu 9.10. I've installed Google Chrome and set it as default browser in Xfce by changing Xfce settings and set x-www-browser to xfbrowser4, so Chrome is being used everywhere I open web links or documents. But gnome-app-install still uses preinstalled Firefox when clicking links in it. Seems like it ignores all settings I can find. Where can I change browser used by gnome-app-install? Thanks.

Open Google Chrome and click "Set as default browser" in the options/preferences dialog in the browser.

This is the first thing I tried. Didn't help (BTW, both browsers think they are set by default).

After some search this one helped:

gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command --type="string" "google-chrome %s"

Maybe will be usefull for somebody.
