i cant add programs when i click on the box it has an error and i cant add flash or any other programs?

The system tell you that you can't run more than one package manager at the same time.
So might be your system is checking for updates in background can you see a round little sun icon near the date time (upper right)... the icon might be in gray color if a package manager is running in background..?
if so you must simply wait...

Or might be you have already open a different package manager... (check also to the minimized window if there are any)

i dont see a sun i have a green dot near my name my web browser and a grey square next to it i dont see any package manager running in the background

I suggest you the simplest way to try: simply reboot your pc... then might be your issue will disappear.

like turn it off and turn it back on if soo i already did that and if i put it on standby and wiggle the mouse or push something on the keyboard it will not wake up i cant add things from any website without getting an error help me this like getting to the point that i am hating this software

okay i see it but i download that need to update so i click it and it will not download it it says error and it says something is that why it will not let me download anything

this is what the error says E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report

so u have to open a terminal (applications-accesoires-terminal) in the opened window u now type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

after that is done (probably it might ask u some questions - hitting enter should be safe on all) restart your machine and all should be fine again.

well the person that installed installed it wrong and had the cord going to my hard drive lose so i reinstalled it and tighten the cord to my hard drive and it is much better now
