Installing version >= 2.25 libc6

Asked by Travis Johnson

I am trying to install MySQL 5.7 on an ubuntu 14.04 box.

Using sudo apt-get install mysql-server it tells me i need to upgrade the mysql-community-client package.

Using sudo apt-get install mysql-community-client it tells me Depends: libc6 (>= 2.25) but 2.19-0ubuntu6.15 is to be installed

I've been trying to find a package in a mirror that is >= 2.25 for libc6 for my current version of ubuntu, and I have had no luck finding one. I am just wondering if it is possible at all to go higher than 2.19. Looking at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+package/libc6 , there are only 2.19 so I am wondering if I am out of luck and need to upgrade my version of ubuntu.

Thanks

Ubuntu 14.04 is end of life (EOL) and no longer supported in any way.

I suggest you upgrade to a newer, supported, release

Can you help with this problem?
