glabels package

glabels will not print to cd tray 12.04

ever since the change to 12.04 I have not been able to print direct to the cd tray on my epson 585 printer. All versions from 9.04 on worked ok.
the data just sits in the queue with no error from ubuntu or the printer. Gutenprint 5.2.8 is the driver. it worked ok on 11.10 using gutenprint 5.2.7

I tried installing gutenprint 5.2.7 on 12.04 but failed

This problem I think effects libraoffice writer too

Have you tried removing the printer from Ubuntu and powering off the device, then reboot the OS. Once you get logged in ok, power up the printer and resetup, does it help?

did that in the order you said
When I switched back on the printer came up but using the epson driver with no option to print to the cd tray, I modified the printer driver, the only other one on the list was gutenprint 5.2.8
Unfortunately the same problem.

I have tried a lot of things here to solve this. I booted into Mint13(32 bit) same problem my ubuntu is 12.04 AMD64
I found a USB version of Mint12 32 bit that works!! as it is based on an earlier Ubuntu using gutenprint 5.2.7
