giver package

Giver not working in 8.10?

I have just set up to desktops running 8.10 with connections to my wired router. I am unable to get Giver (easy file sharing) to function. "Preferences" allows me to set the name but not add picture/image. Giver does not "detect" across the network.

Any advice would be appreciated,

After I loaded and tried Kepas, a somewhat similar package, and then reloaded Giver it now works. No idea why. Giver functionality is just what I hoped it would be.

One obvious requirement, be sure to turn off any local firewalls, like Firestarter, on any boxes to be detected by Giver.
