  how do I get them?

Hi,
Thanks for your question! You can get them from the repositories:

sudo aptitude install gimp-help-en

If you need something other than english, you can replace it with the language code, or just search through synaptic for 'gimp-help'

Use Synaptic. Enter "Gimp" in the search field and you will find the help files.

To get gimp help you must install one of this ready to install repository packages:
