Do Gimp addons speed-up Ubuntu?

In 904 I added Gimp's add-ons with synaptic manager.. After it was finished the install the computer seemed to run a little faster...
If Gimp does make the computer run faster, what parts of Gimp did it, and how?..

I'm sorry, but the gimp add-ons will not make your computer any faster.

Does Gimp tie-into several running programs..?

Does Gimp contain link-cuts which are intended to prevent loading the OS..?
