Geoclue 2 very high memory usage

Asked by Hugh Wormington

After geoclue 2 running at high CPU for some minutes I found CPU usage had dropped to zero but geoclue was still hogging a whopping 11GB of memory (the PC has 16GB). I stopped the geoclue service to recover the memory.

Is this a known issue? Are there any logs I see to diagnose it?

Thanks!

Kubuntu 18.04
geoclue-2.0/bionic,now 2.4.7-1ubuntu1 amd64

Did you mean geoclue (not geoclue-2.0)?

$ apt-cache policy geoclue
geoclue:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.12.99-4ubuntu2
  Version table:
     0.12.99-4ubuntu2 500
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages

BUT I have geoclue 2 installed:

$ apt-cache policy geoclue-2.0
geoclue-2.0:
  Installed: 2.4.7-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.4.7-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.4.7-1ubuntu1 500
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I suggest you report a bug. You could use a docker to restrict RAM use by the process
