When creating a file using the text editor,
the second time, a backup file is created,

I do not need it, for I am used to vi on AIX.
Also I create a backup at the end of the day.

Regards,

Ynze

In Gedit, Go to

Edit --> Preferences

In that select EDITOR tab.

In that uncheck the option

"create a backup copy of file before saving."

Thats it.

Hope it helps.
