How is it possible to add a language to the language list that Gedit's spell checking tool supports?

Asked by yotan

I use Intrepid.

I want to check Dutch text by using spell checking tool on Gedit.
The language list that shows up when I try to set language on Gedit includes only English and Turkish.
I want to know how can one check texts in other languages than English and Turkish on Gedit.

Oops, sorry, nor does it seem to be asked in the silva launchpad, but I did receive the email notification as if it was. Looks like launchpad is acting strange.

Yotan moved the question from silva to gedit shortly after the question was created. silva answer contacts were first notified, then gedit's answer contacts.

Hi Yotan.

I think you need to install Dutch dictionaries for them to show up in Tools > Set language menu

I believe Dutch will show up after you install the myspell-nl dictionary using
System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
