"Syntax Highlighting Preferences" does not exist...

Asked by Petar Milin

I am trying to add new syntax highlight for LaTeX/R Sweave coding scheme (Rnw-file). Although I have my old Rnw.lang file that has worked fine in Dapper, it is not working now in Gutsy. I have put it in right folder:
</usr/share/gtksourceview-1.0/language-specs/>
and I even tried to make new one for:
</usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs/>
No luck! However, what surprised me the most is that I could not find "Syntax Highlighting Preferences" in Preferences, but elsewhere either. It is explained in "Help Topics", but it does not exist. What on earth is going on there? In addition, why I cannot use my old Rnw.lang file, but it seems that I need to make new for the <gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs/> folder?

Best,
PM

Hello,
Thanks for the attempt, but this is not it. I know where to highlight, but in Preferences it should be 'Syntax Highlighting'. You need that to define colours for some new highlighting scheme.

Best,
Petar

This is a new framework for style schemes support that is being developed and the old functionality is being replaced with the new. In the near future i.e gnome 2.4 (Which is shipped with hardy I think) implements it..

http://www.gnome.org/start/2.4/notes/rnwhatsnew.html

Unfortunately. All you can do at the moment is create a new xml file your self based off of what's already there. You can find the existing schemes (tango, oblivion, kate etc) in:

/usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/styles/

And you can edit these as you please but remember to save them under a different name before you do anything!

For more details see the following links:
