Gedit Pluging SplitView does not work

Asked by Lou

I recently downloaded the files for the SplitView plugin for Gedit. I have Gedit ver 3.4.1. I copied the files SplitView.py and SplitView.plugin to to following directories:

~/.local/share/gedit/plugins/ <------------------------The plugin doesn't show in the Edit-> Preferences->Plugins

Then I copied the files to: .gnome2/gedit/plugins <--------------ditto

Finally I copied them to

usr/lib/gedit/plugins <---------------------------------------------------Samr thing

My question:

Is this plugin developed for an older version of Gedit? If so, does anybody know of a similar plugin for this version of Gedit.

Thanks,

Lou

Unable to reproduce.
Download .tar via 'Downloads' there.
https://github.com/jonocodes/GeditSplitView

Paste the files SplitView.plugin and SplitView.py in
~.local/share/gedit/plugins

Start GEdit, go to
Edit -> preferences -> plugins
Activate the SplitView plugin.

Test.
Open a document, go to
View -> toggle split view

Hi Sam:

Thanks. I was just downloading the individual files from https://github.com/jonocodes/GeditSplitView and it was not working. Once I followed your advise to download the tar file, everything changed. For some reason the link given for the uncompressed files get corrupted when saves as...

Thanks for your response.
