Thanks for your question. Honestly I don't know if the file I'm trying to open is as your specified. Otherwise:

henning@henning-laptop:~$ ls -l /home/henning/.openoffice.org/3/.lock
-rw-r--r-- 1 henning henning 136 2011-12-04 13:59 /home/henning/.openoffice.org/3/.lock
henning@henning-laptop:~$

Is the result of the specified command.

Are you sure it's gedit and not libreoffice?

try closing all gedits and openffice apps and run:

sudo mv /home/henning/.openoffice.org /home/henning/.openoffice.org_old

Then rerun the app, is it ok?

After henning@henning-laptop:~$ sudo mv /home/henning/.openoffice.org /home/henning/.openoffice.org_old
mv: cannot stat `/home/henning/.openoffice.org': No such file or directory

I get the same as I did when asking why gedit can't be opened (i.e. the first post in this thread).

ls $HOME | grep office, gives no output. I get:

henning@henning-laptop:~$
