Replace within selection

Asked by Tony Sam

Can gedit perform a replacing only within selection?
If not and if developers read this, I offer this convenient feature. :)
E.g., you need to replace all letters 'a' to 'A', but not in the whole text. You select a range you need and push the button "replace all", instead of manually controlling and replacing every letter one by one.

gedit-developer-plugins provides a regular expression find and replace in selection. The menu it is enabled by the GDP Format plugin.
