LCD brightness on login screen

Asked by derWolf

I have updated my ubuntu 9.04->9.10, and installed gdm ver. 2.28.0 package from beta repos.

When login screen starts (on user switching or booting up) LCD backlight brightness set to 100 %, but when i successfully logged in it returns back to normal value. When login screen is running, i can change brightness with Fn+<- , -> buttons, but this value isn't saved on next login screen start. Is it normal? I think login screen shouldn't change any brightness settings at all. How to set in this case default value of brightness for login screen?

I'm not sure where to post it, in gnome-power-manager or here.

Hardware: Acer Extensa 5220, graphics: Intel X3100 (GMA 965)

Maybe check settings in gconf -> /apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight

I played with combinations of this parameters - in almost every case
the problem remains. I''ve just observed, that backlight changes only
when i starting to move mouse above login screen (at least on user
switch) so it can be something concerned with idle mode. When setting
idle_dim_time to 1 at first time going in user switch it has changed
intensity to 100 than back to idle_brightness in a moment. But it
seems, that it was accidentally, i couldn't repeat this anymore.

And one more observation: when i'm returning backlight intencity to my
preffered value (0 particularly) after log in, sometimes it returns
back to 100% after 5-10 seconds.

I searched in bugs of power manager again, now i'm almost sure, that this is a same bug as:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/35223.

Thanks for answers, i think that it is not a problem in gdm code
