After the purple boot screen, my computer goes to "could not write bytes: Broken pipe" I didn't even know these things had pipes.

Asked by Tim Hundsdorfer on 2014-08-13

I installed a few apps on my Ubuntu 12.04 Unity desktop. Unfortunately, my machine doesn't boot now.

After the purple "Ubuntu" screen (with the red/brown dots flashing underneath--which seem to be working), I get a message in the top left: could not write bytes: Broken pipe

I feel like a cornerback after the wide receiver jukes me and gets two steps downfield.

I suggest you test your RAM using Memtest86 from Grub. This is a great first step with stuff like this. If you see rrd then some RAM is bad

Can you help with this problem?
