I just installed Ubuntu, and I don't know how to log in, I'm stuck [x]

Asked by Timmy Nguyen

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Open Source OS, I've heard of it many times so yesterday I decided to install Ubuntu to experience it. Its version is the latest one on the website (11.04). After all installation done, I was asked to enter the password to log in (graphical interface, just like Windows), and throughout the whole installation process, they ask me nothing about root password. So what is it? I'm stuck at the log in screen for hours, and still don't know what to do next. I enter all passwords that I think possible, but it doesn't work at all. Could you please show me what should I do to log in? And please, step by step (for example, don't just say Open Terminal, I don't know how to open it at the log-in screen, I've never used Unix-related stuffs before).

Best thanks,

[x]

There is no root password, you use the account you setup at install time.

If you don't remember the password you decided on while installing Ubuntu, then you can reset it:

Can you help with this problem?
