Asked by Bud Hardy

UBUNTU 10.10 In a login loop!!

I installed UBUNTU 10.10 as a parallal operating system.

ON boot the login window appears. I enter my password then click login. I am returned to the login window again.

I am now stuck with an Ubuntu partition that I cannot remove. How do suggest I recover my system. I would rather not have to reformat my hard drive and reload Windows 7

Thank you.

Does it give any error while you are reverted back to the login screen?

Press Ctrl + Alt + F1 at the login screen, type your credentials and do these commands.

ls /home

It should return the name of your home directory and obviously it should be the same as your username.

df -h

This wil tell you about disk space usage. Make sure you are not running out of space on / partition.

Can you help with this problem?
