Large fonts on login and amsn

I'm new to linux and i just installed the new ubuntu and when i get to the login page all the fonts are to large to read as well as the option menu in the corner. As well when trying to use certain applications such as amsn the fonts are also far to large to read so i am unable to do anything.
What can i do to fix this issue?

Also try rebooting your system.. A recent fix has overcome this problem.. It happens occasionally on my system also.. When I rebooted its working fine...
