how to change gdm theme?

hey, i'm brand new to linux, and i don't really know what i'm doing but i'm trying. I\ve benne trying to change my login screen (gdm) if i'm not mistaken. I've downloaded a couple of gdm themes, i'm in the root terminal and i have done an update-grub command. Files are listed but i have no idea how to change my current gdm.

Hi Urbansamurai,

Grub and GDM are very different things - don't confuse them.

ActionParsnip recommended "GDM is customisable via epidermis in Karmic" to another user earlier today. I haven't used this program but it solved the other users' issue.
