Help to remove an icon from my desktop

How can I get remove an icon from my desktop? It is a gdesklet icon that I can't seem to remove even by right clicking and removing. It is a workspace icon. Please help.

I can't remove a gdesklet icon from my desktop. How can I remove it? I have tried right clicking and removing but there is no option to remove.

I opened the gdesklets shell and clicked on one of them to try to see what it was about and it was a workspace icon. Now I can't remove it and it just sits on my background.

Anyone out there know how I can remove it?

Actually, I don't understand your problem.
What is the program associated with the icon?
Can you select the icon and press del?
Can you drag and drop your icon to the Trash bin?

PLEASE MY CASE SEEMS DIFFERENCE FROM THE ABOVE.

I HAVE BEEN DRAGGING AND DROPING ON MY DESKTOP WITHOUT PROBLEM UNTIL RECENTLY THAT I CANNOT DO THAT AGAIN. WHEN EVER I TRY IT A POP UP MESSAGE BOX READS "YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO DO THIS" EVEN WHEN I WANT TO CREAT LAUNCHER ON MY DESKTOP.

MORE SO I HAVE SOME WINDOW FILE I WAS ABLE INSTALL IN UBUNTU AND IT WORK WELL BUT I WANT TO OVERRIGHT SOME FILES MANUALLY WITHOUT SUCCESS DUE TO THIS PERMSSION ISSUE.

I HAVE TRY TO ENABLE PERMISSION FOR THE REQUIRED FOLDER BUT THE PERSSION TAB SESSION ARE ALL GRAY CLAIMING THEY ARE MEANT FOR THE ROOT AND I HAVE ASSIGN ADMIN AND ROOT RIGHT TO MY USERS NAME YET WITHOUT SUCCESS.

PLEASE I WILL WANT A RESPONCE TO THIS ISSUE THANKS.
