gdebi replacement?

is there a gdebi replacement or alternative?
gdebi 0.9.5.7 no longer will install packages, it wont prompt for sudo

sudo gdebi
will work in terminal

Use apt in the terminal.

sudo apt install filename.deb

should read
sudo apt install ./filename.deb

but that is not a GUI
