How to get symbol file for gdb in ubuntu Karmic kernel

Asked by David Cheung

I am trying to set up .gdbinit for debugging Ubuntu kernel 2.6.31.6 and have succesfully built and run the kernel with debug symbol and necessary flags in the .config. Where do I find the gdb symbol-file? Is it the same as System.map or Kallsyms?
Thanks
