gcc:no input file ,for ubuntu on vmware

plz send me solution on my email id ,the problem is that i'm using ubuntu on vmware & while compilng its showing no input files for gcc & cc also for gcc prgname.c it showning no such file or directory,i chckd al kept files on desktop & given cd Desktop on terminal window first ,what to do? its very urgent plz ans soon

What are you trying to compile? Is it your own code? It would be really appreciated if you could provide more details about the process that you are doing. And also refer the following forum thread and see whether it fixes your issue.

If you can't figure it out we need to know what you are trying to compile and exactly what error messages you get
