Automatically Maximizing Windows

Asked by Dominic Bosco

I'm still new to Ubuntu and I just downloaded the Ubuntu 10.10 beta. However, whenever I open any application it automatically takes up the entire screen and it doesn't show the window border. This is very annoying, is there any way to fix it?

Actually, I didn't explain well before, the window borders aren't visible because the windows maximize when the application starts. However, when I make the windows smaller, the window borders are visible again. My main problem is with the automatic maximization, I don't want to have to resize windows all the time.

not sure on a graceful fix but you could use devilspie and this python script:

To control how windows appear when they first open. Powerful stuff.
