Normally you open parenthesis numerator division sign denominator close parenthesis.

Like so:

(4/8)* (5/884)

Hi :)

If you want to use % then click on the "View" menu and choose "Advanced" which then allows you to do a lot of fancy stuff. For specialist calculators open Synaptic, from the top taskbar click on

System - Administration - Synaptic

and use either search tool to look for "calculator" or something. You can be fairly vague in those searches. I would avoid anything beginning with K or Q since that might try to drag in lots of KDE stuff as dependencies (which would be fine if you were using Kubuntu which uses KDE anyway), Ubuntu uses the gnome desktop so it's better to avoid getting it too cluttered.

However i think the standard calculator is probably plenty for what you need right now :)
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
