tdlr; Anyone know what `-f nameofyourwatch` is?; Any thoughts on writing up some official docs for this package?

@michael, that first link is a 404 (and googling garmin.com for troubleshooting just gave me FAQs). Also, I'm not sure how an FAQ (probably generalized or worse, specific to mac/windows clients, would help here).

Regarding the linuxmint.com tutorial, do you know what "-f nameofyourwatch" is? I don't recall ever labeling/naming this watch.

Regarding the garmin.com forum link, given how old that thread is, its worth mentioning my experience so far:

Gant was the only thing that worked (could output tcx files) for me on Ubuntu 12.04

It doesn't look like any one has worked on any of these projects in about a year...

A bit undocumented (out of date usage() statement), but the code seems the simplest and easiest to follow, should changes be necessary. I managed to compile this and get what I needed. However, now with more run data on the watch, I can no longer get this to work.
(haven't tried https://github.com/DanAnkers/garmin-ant-downloader, but seems like a newer-fork of the same code)

Seemed promising. Has a handful of problems in its issue queue (though, I did try it). Seems like it was really written for Ubuntu 11.04

Couldn't get this to work, would just get seg faults and messages telling me I need to pair first (though, supposedly pairing should just happen the first time around).

Also, in case anyone else is confused and finds this thread, there's also https://github.com/mvillalba/python-ant (explained here: https://github.com/braiden/python-ant-downloader/pull/38#issuecomment-11646119)

Also, I haven't looked at the code for this Ubuntu package, but it looks like https://github.com/jamesarbrown/Gant (also mentioned above) might be the same exact code. If that's the case, then it might be nice to steal some of the docs I used for that code to write up something official for this package.
