gaim package

Gaim closes by itself every 30/60 seconds

Please note that in the last few weeks I am not able to keep chatting because program closes by itself every 30 or 60 seconds and I have to restart it every time. For the moment I am not using it because it is not possible to chat with anybody anymore. It happens when I am writing or even reading and I cound not understand what is due to yet!

Please let me know what I can do or I am sorry to say that I will look for something else.

Hi there,

Try remove Gaim - update apt, then install it again - see if that solves the problem.

Type each line below - then press enter after each line.

sudo aptitude remove gaim
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gaim

this will also remove ubuntu-desktop, unless you by choice removed this before, you'll want it back to ease updates later down the line, so add this to the last posters lines:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
