Update to freetds stable 0.95?

Asked by thorin

Version 0.91 is already 4 years old and several fixes have been released since then.

Could version 0.95 stable be pushed to the next release of Ubuntu (ftp://ftp.freetds.org/pub/freetds/stable/freetds-patched.tar.gz)?

I'm asking it because I manage a system with Ubuntu Trusty Tahr and it is being affected by a bug which was fixed on version 0.92. (ref. https://github.com/rails-sqlserver/activerecord-sqlserver-adapter/issues/390)

I suggest you report a bug.

If the bug and security bug fixes are significant then the package will be updated

You have to be aware, that Ubuntu is taking over software from Debian. As far as I can see, also Debian is still on the 0.91
version of freetds, with a bug report https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=803258 requesting an upgrade to 0.95.

I suggest that you create a bug report for Ubuntu, requesting an update of the package.

I spotted a PPA with the 0.95-1 version for trusty https://launchpad.net/~jamiewillis/+archive/ubuntu/freetds
Maybe this could be interesting for you.

Thank you for the reply. The ppa will certainly help me.

I'll open a bug report.
