Update FreeCiv to 2.1.9

Asked by IMarvinTPA

FreeCiv 2.1.9 was released at the end of March. Are there any plans to update the packages?

This version is particularly nice for Netbook users as it better supports screens with limited vertical resolution (600 pixels)

There are also a number of fixes in the release: http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/NEWS-2.1.9

Thanks,
IMarv

Hi,

At least, according to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+search?text=freeciv , there is no plan to upgrade to 2.1.9 right now. The version for Ubuntu 9.10 is supposed to be 2.1.8-1.

What would need to be done to get an update planned?

This is a working solution: http://www.getdeb.net/release/4138
The files for Intrepid worked for me.

It would still be nice if base Ubuntu were updated.

If Debian updates its version of Freeciv to 2.1.9 before the Debian
Import Freeze, the Karmic one should also become 2.1.9

For Hardy (Ubuntu 8.04), you can grab freeciv 2.1.9 from http://www.getdeb.net/release/4140.
