lk-lug sinhala unicode font not working now in Precise

Asked by Asoka Dissanayake

Sinhala unicode font lk-lug was perfectly working in Precise as well as in 11.10. Now it does not respond. In a search, found that the relevant package has been deleted from the repository. Trying to use the font for creating documents in the local language (Sinhala).

It may not be really a bug, because what happens is that it is not possible to key in using the language (Sinhala). Language selector is there always. In a search I found that the package has been deleted from the repository. I did not try to find out the reason for this. However, anybody who was using the package would be sorry, because there is no other package (to my knowledge) which allows users to use Sinhala unicode.

Accidentally found that in a user account, the language selector works. Probably due to an update, it is now working (I can select the language and type). However, with further updates, I am not sure this will keep working.

Can you help with this problem?
