Update to version 2.00.1?

Asked by Nikolaus Waxweiler

Hello font people,
there seems to be a newer version of the fonts under the SIL Open Font License available from https://fedorahosted.org/liberation-fonts/ with much expanded coverage. Could you please update the package?

Regards,
Nikolaus

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are great then it will be updated sooner. If not then other packages will be focused on. This is especially the case in the LTS releases. Packages are not updated simply because a new version is out in Ubuntu.

There is this PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~teppic74/+archive/liberation-fonts

You can add it with:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:teppic74/liberation-fonts
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install fonts-liberation

This is a 3rd party PPA so bugs with the package will need to be reported to the PPA maintainers.

Thanks

Please note: That PPA does not support Precise (Ubuntu 12.04). It only supports Quantal (Ubuntu 12.10) and Raring (Ubuntu 13.04).

Alright, will report a bug.

@actionparsnip: I have seen the repo already, thanks, but getting the newest and best version directly from the official repos was my goal :)
