Asked by Sihle Hato

I recently downloaded FocusWriter on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS system and tried to switch on the typewriter sounds but it just wouldn't budge.

Did you install it with:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install focuswriter

?

thanks for answering the question. I tried to do that and this is what i got in response:

" Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 125, in <module>
    ppa_info = get_ppa_info_from_lp(user, ppa_name)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/ppa.py", line 80, in get_ppa_info_from_lp
    curl.perform()
pycurl.error: (35, 'gnutls_handshake() failed: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.')".

 Then, when typing this in : 'sudo add-get update'
 I get this in return:
"Fetched 184 kB in 22s (8 027 B/s)
W: Failed to fetch https://private-ppa.launchpad.net/commercial-ppa-uploaders/fullcircle-issue-59/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-i386/Packages gnutls_handshake() failed: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.

That's a different PPA so the app should install OK.

I suggest you contact the PPA maintainer, see if they are included.

https://launchpad.net/~gottcode/+archive/gcppa/

Is the PPA page, it names the maintainer there. A quick search for 'ppa:gottcode/gcppa' showed that page....
