FocusWriter package for Ubuntu 11.04.

Asked by john Alatalo

I would like to see Focuswriter (texteditor) in the repository. Got good reviews from many. I translated this with google translate from Swedish:

http://translate.google.se/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fpavel.frimix.se%2F2010%2F10%2F05%2Ffocuswriter-den-perfekta-texteditorn%2F&act=url

Can anyone here make a request for it?
Thanks.

Focuswriter will be included in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot (see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/focuswriter). If you wish, you can attempt to use the Oneiric package in Ubuntu (you can grab the one for your architecture--if you need help with this, please post a reply about that). At the present time, Oneiric is a lot like Natty (since Oneiric is early in its development), so it's even more likely than usual that the package will work in Natty. (Though of course it's not supported in Natty. With that said, if you do have problems getting it to work in Natty, you could post here for help. Or just build it yourself from the upstream sources.)

Perhaps you want to request that focuswriter be included in natty-backports (and/or in the -backports repository for some previous supported release). In that case, please read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports carefully, and follow the instructions therein for filing a bug against whichever -backports project you want to include it. Before doing so, you should check to make sure it's not already available in that backports repository, by searching at http://packages.ubuntu.com. You should also check to see if a request has already been submitted, by searching through the bugs filed against the appropriate backports project. To do that, remove the text "/+filebug" from the end of the URL's on that page, and you can browse and search through what others have filed. If you want it added to multiple backports repositories, you can report the bug against the backports repository for the latest release of Ubuntu you want it in (I'm assuming that would be Natty), then add the other backports repositories using the "Also affects distribution" link near the top of the bug page, after you file the bug.

If you file (or find) a bug to request focuswriter's inclusion in one or more backports repositories, please also link the bug and this question to each other using the "Link existing bug" link near the top of this question page.
