Installed FlightGear last night and "loading Scenery Object" continues for hour and never completes

Flight Gear C172P loaded just fine, but when it got to "loading scenery objects" it just keeps on loading and does not complete. I suspect memory is low (2GB total), so is there a virtual memory tool that could be used to simulate the increase in memory for Maverik 11.04?

Can you actually check your available RAM?

Use the System monitor: System -> Administration -> System Monitor

I finally removed the Flight Gear application and forgot about it....It seemed too complicated to use anyway.
