upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04, now can't see video's ie news clips etc

Asked by William Kelly

I recently upgraded to 9.04, I can no longer view video's on the internet. It took me a long time to figure out how to get them when I first installed 8.10 when I upgraded I got a message that some things would be disabled and would have to enable again, didn't think much about it at the time, but now have no idea how to resolve the issue.

Anyone have any idea's. Very new to Ubuntu, had used windows up until just recently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance.

You need to install Flash Player. Please see the articles below from the FAQ -

Sorry this didn't work, I un-installed the flash nonfree thing (sorry don't have the exact name in front of me and installed the adobe flash player and still come up with the same blank white screen where the vid should be playing.

I do really appreciate your response, thank you for taking the time.

Regards,

Are you sure you have removed all other plash plugins (like gnash, klash etc?)

Does the problem occur only with videos or with any other flash application (games, dynamic we sites etc)?

Sorry, I took the easy way out. I have gone and started reinstalling from the disc, Ubuntu 8.10 I am just not familiar enough with this system yet. It is probably something that I did by installing some of the pkg's that caused me not to be able to sucessfully get the video's to come up.

I really appreciate all the help and suggestions from everyone. Thank you very much.

It is hard going from Windows to Ubuntu, when you are not familiar with the system, I will keep plugging away as I really want to learn as much as I can about it.

Once again thank you very much for your time and effort.
