What kinds of videos are not playing? Are these flash videos, such as you tube, or videos that should open in a separate application (quicktime, wmv)?

Have you installed the flash plugin?

The package is flashplugin-nonfree.

Sound like you don't have Flash installed.

- Make sure all firefox windows are closed, including Downloads.
- Open System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager (You'll have to enter your user password)
- When synaptic appears, type "flash" into the Quick Search field.
- Right-click on flashplugin-installer. Choose "Mark for Installation"
- Click apply, follow the steps, and when the install is done, close synaptic, open firefox, and try to watch something.

well gentlemen.....ready to quit.....did the 'flash' thing....'java' thing...more codecs.....sound sometimes works after a minute wait...picture, every 30 seconds or so, shows another still image....now, surfing the web is fine..other tabs open, close properly...no loss of speed.....8.10 worked fine.....i'm going back....it's a p3@733...512ram.....adequate for all previous iterations.....i'll hang around for 1 more day.....thank you....TR

didn't wait...back to 8.10.....everything is good...by the way, that was the second try with 9.04........the first time, something replicated itself...filled up the drive....ok, second time, torrent download.....(official release)....did the (disk?) check......everything fine it said......then nothing but grief.....sorry to waist your time....thanks again...TR

Hi Terrybob,
Sorry for the late reply - I'm confused. Are you having trouble with 8.10 now as well?
