Hi

you need to install flash player to play youtube movies. Please install ubuntu-restricted-extras. You can install it by typing into your terminal(CTRL + ALT + T) sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

If that helps you solve your question, please mark thread as solved.

Regards,
Miha

I've got the same problem, I think. The video appears to load (I see the first frame of the video), but will not stream. Hitting play/pause has no effect other than toggling the icon.

This happens in both Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

The weird thing is that I can play embedded Youtube videos from Facebook or other referring sites; I just can't play them from youtube.com directly.

For now, I've taken to using youtube-dl for the ones I care about, and just skipping the rest.

And yes, I've installed restricted-extras, adobe-flashplugin, every codec pack available from Medibuntu, etc.

Nevermind; the following procedure fixed my problem:

apt-get install gnash-common
apt-get purge gnash-common
apt-get purge flashplugin-installer flash-plugin adobe-flashplugin
apt-get install adobe-flash-properties-gtk adobe-flashplugin
(restart browser)

Can you help with this problem?
