32-bit library on 64 bit system - why?

Asked by Párkányi, Balázs

After installing 11.10 and running firefox I tried some pages with flash content. I've noticed that Firefox still used the 32-bit library (/usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so). Than I searched for flashplugin-installer and it seemed, that it depends on flashplugin-downloader which only exists for i386. I've read that Adobe published flash player plugin version 11 for 64-bit systems. Why downloader is not able to install this version, or if it installs it, why firefox still uses the 32-bit version?

Thanks,
balazs
