You said this happens with every browser. What browsers are you using? You said you are using Chrome. Is that Chrome, or Chromium (or both)? Those two browsers are related, but they are not the same browser. Are you also experiencing this in Firefox? (I know you were originally, but are you still, after running actionparsnip's most recent commands?)
Does this happen when you log in to your Ubuntu system with a different user account? If you only have one user account, then please create another one to test this (you can do that in System > Administration > Users and Groups). Signing on with a different user account would be a very inconvenient solution for this problem, but the reason I am asking you to try this is not with the intention that you would do it permanently, but because knowing whether or not that works around the problem provides very important information about possible causes for the problem.
Also:
(1) What is the current output of this command (in the Terminal)?
dpkg -l | egrep 'flash|
(2) Please take a screenshot showing your Plugins in the Add-Ons Manager in Firefox (Tools > Add-Ons...)? You can do this with Applications > Accessories > Take Screenshot or by tapping the Print Screen key once. Look at the screenshot to make sure it shows everything, and assuming it does, post it on the web (you could use a site like http://
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Sidi Cd for more information if necessary.
