Firestarter, Ports

Asked by peter

Hi

I've a question and I would be glad if you know an answer.

I use the Firewall Firestarter. What do I have to do, if I'll like to close all the ports? Or are they closed by default? Thanks?
Peter

I might be wrong here but I am pretty sure that the default action is to keep all ports closed unless specificied

Open Firestarter and go to the "Policy" tab. Right-click in the appropriate text box and select "Add Rule" from the context menu that pops up. FYI, if you are using Ubuntu 8.10, it already has a firewall program built in, called ufw. Its command-line based though so if you are allergic to terminal windows then stick with Firestarter.
